Statement by Georgian Dream Executive Secretary Mamuka Mdinaradze

As stated by our colleagues who have been holding briefings and informing the public throughout the day, the elections are mostly peaceful, especially at locations where there are no provocations and staged performances. Voter activity is quite normal, in connection with which we once again call on our supporters to be as active as possible, in which case we can already say that the Georgian Dream will secure a convincing victory, which is absolutely to be expected, given the data coming from our headquarters. Individual violations have taken place, buts its authors are completely different persons from what some broadcasters are conveying to the public. Several violations by the United National Movement have been identified and are being recorded; however, we are not going to organize some provocations and blame someone for the violations. I would like to emphasize the following for the benefit of you the journalists and any people who sincerely lack information about this: The relevant special norm has been established within the framework of the unprecedented electoral reform, according to which all forms of campaigning, recording voters, and so forth have been prohibited within the 100-meter radius, and everyone must observe this, be it our supporter, our representative, or the representative of any other party. The 100-meter radius must be strictly observed; however, they can of course carry out any legal action outside the 100-meter radius. Even if they engage in campaigning while wearing party t-shirts, this is not a violation if it takes place outside the 100-meter radius. I say this because of one main reason: The representatives of a certain television station, as well as party activists – it does not matter who they are and whom they represent – have reported that someone is allegedly sitting outside the 100-meter radius with a list, keeping some records, calling on activists to come to the elections. This is unequivocally not a violation, as long as the 100-meter radius is strictly observed. Unfortunately, we see that certain television stations are approaching specific vehicles outside the 100-meter radius, recording the people sitting in the vehicles, chasing passers-by and telling them that they do not have the right to be there. This is unequivocally incorrect information because – and I have had to repeat this many times – it is not a violation outside the 100-meter radius. This even applies to calling on people or engaging in campaigning – the main thing is to keep this distance.
