Statement by Givi Mikanadze

Hello.

As you know, there is a little more than 3 weeks before the elections and the opposition parties, especially the radical opposition, are not actively campaigning, which strengthens the feeling that they are not preparing for the October 2 elections, but for the October 3 destruction. In this regard, various mechanisms are involved and they carry out active provocative activities in many directions.

We, as the responsible government, consider it expedient to inform the public in detail about the activities of the radical opposition that are damaging to the country and with which they want to prepare the situation and create a background for the alleged falsification of the October 2 elections.

It is noteworthy that the experience gained from the elections in recent years makes it clear that the elections, along with neutral NGOs, are also observed by local organizations that are affiliated with various political entities.

In many cases, the main goal of the representatives of such observer organizations is to obstruct the conduct of the election process in accordance with the legislation in the polling stations and to carry out provocative actions in order to present to both international partners and allies and our society as well  the election process as "illegal". In the event of an unfavorable outcome for the opposition parties, the majority of them use these "perceptions", presenting the elections as "falsified" and trying to mislead the international community and the Georgian electorate, which was clearly reflected in the destructive developments on the day of the 2020 parliamentary elections.

We would like to remind you that a few days before the 2020 parliamentary elections, we provided information to the public and Western partners and exposed those local observer organizations that were directly involved with specific political entities (mainly the United National Movement, European Georgia and Strategy Builder). Of the 120 local observer organizations registered by the CEC, 32 were affiliated with opposition parties.

This year, we also conducted a study of local observer organizations registered by the CEC, the results of which are presented today in relation to the local observer organizations registered as of September 8. We note here that all the evidence obtained is information available from public sources.
